The Merrion Tree is the creation of Eileen Bergin, one of Ireland’s best-known artisan food retailers. As founder of The Butler’s Pantry in 1987, she created a market for the finest of home-style cooking to take home – and enjoy with the family or when entertaining.

After a short ‘retirement’ in 2010, Eileen quickly returned to the food business in 2011 when she opened The Merrion Tree in the heart of the area where she grew up.

She would love to see old and new customers alike, for a coffee, meal or a take-home option or just to say hello!

Very much geared towards the local community, it is a beguiling mix of a local meeting place and purveyor of freshly made artisan food to take away and enjoy at home.

Whether just dropping in for a coffee and cake, a gossip or real-food to take home for a sumptuous lunch or dinner, the ‘recipe’ is always the same – wonderful home-cooked food, made from the finest and freshest of local ingredients, and inevitably served with a smile.

The ethos of The Merrion Tree has remained unchanged since the day we first opened our doors – to use only the finest of local ingredients, prepared with love by experts who simply adore good food. Eileen’s son Karl is also a Director of the business. Another familiar face in The Merrion Tree, Karl has extensive knowledge and experience in food retail.
